OVERVIEW

The CHW trainee is a non-benefited position headquartered in San Leandro, CA and will work under the direction of the AHPI program director and manager. The trainee is eligible to enroll in community college courses offered at Chabot College to obtain a Community Health Worker certificate. The community college courses are available at no cost to the trainee. Trainees will have 18 months to complete the CHW coursework in order to gain certification.

Important: Trainees are encouraged to enroll in coursework at Chabot College to obtain a certification as a Community Health Worker (CHW). AHPI will assist in the enrollment process. The courses are encouraged but not required.

During the training period, prior to job placement, apprentices will be compensated $1,500 per month.

Do I need a college degree to participate in this program?

No, AHPI only requires you have your high school or G.E.D. diploma.

Apprentices should anticipate committing a minimum of 20 hours per week throughout the program. Additional details will be provided upon admission.
